What Gatherly is
Gatherly is a tool for hosts to publish events, collect RSVPs, sell tickets, and check guests in. Gatherly charges hosts no platform fee on ticket sales; card-processing fees are charged by our payment processor (Stripe) and are either absorbed by the host or, at the host's choice, added to the buyer's total.
Hosts are responsible for their events
Hosts own their events: the venue, the content, the safety, the refund decisions, and compliance with local law (including permits, alcohol, and capacity). Gatherly is not the organizer of any event listed on the platform and is not a party to the transaction between a host and a guest.
Payments and payouts
Ticket payments are processed by Stripe. Hosts must connect a Stripe account to sell paid tickets; Stripe's own terms apply to that account. Ticket revenue, less card-processing fees when the host absorbs them, is transferred to the host after the event ends and after the host confirms it took place (below). Refunds and chargebacks are deducted from the host's balance and may be recovered from future payouts.
Confirming your event and getting paid
Before we release a payout we ask the host who created the event to confirm two things: that the event took place as described, and that they know of no refund still owed to guests. We keep a record of that confirmation, including who made it and when. Until it is made, the money stays with us. It remains the host's, and none of it expires.
A host who confirms an event that did not take place, or confirms while refunds are still owed, has to pay back any refunds their guests are owed, and we may suspend their account. A host whose event did not take place should cancel it instead, which refunds every buyer automatically.
Refunds
Refunds are decided by each event's host. The host chooses whether to refund a ticket. A refund is what the guest paid, minus the card processing fee, which Stripe keeps; a host who wants to give that fee back can send it to the guest directly. If a host cancels an event, every buyer is refunded automatically for what they paid, minus card processing fees. Card processing fees are charged by our payment processor, Stripe, which doesn't return them when a payment is refunded. Refunds go back to the original card and usually appear within 5–10 business days. To ask for a refund, use the “Contact host” button on your ticket: it emails the host your message with your address as the reply-to, so their answer comes back to you directly. If the host cancelled the event, that button is on the event's page instead.
Messages
By providing a phone number or email at checkout you agree to receive transactional messages about that event (your ticket, reminders, and updates from the host). Reply STOP to any text to opt out of SMS. When you message a host through Gatherly, we email your message, your name and your email address to that host so they can reply to you directly, and we never give you the host's address. We don't store the message in Gatherly; it is sent through the email provider we use to send all our mail, which keeps a record of it as any email service does.
Third-party listings
Explore may show public events collected from other platforms (such as Partiful and Eventbrite). Those listings link to the original platform, which handles RSVPs and payment. Gatherly is not affiliated with those platforms and makes no guarantee about the accuracy of their listings.
Acceptable use
Don't use Gatherly to send unsolicited messages, list events you don't have the right to host, scrape the service, or interfere with other users. We can remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules.
Liability
Gatherly is provided as-is. To the extent permitted by law, Gatherly is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid us in the preceding twelve months.
